Abnormal mitochondrial function has been implicated in the progression of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), the prototypical autoimmune disease, yet the underlying cause remains unclear. In this study, mitochondrial-encoded NADH dehydrogenase 6 gene (MT-ND6) was identified as having increased m6A methylation and decreased expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of SLE patients by MeRIP-seq analysis. MT-ND6 expression was negatively correlated with SLE disease activity index score and 24-h urine protein level, and lower in patients with positive anti-Sm or anti-dsDNA antibodies. With the reduction of MT-ND6 levels, CD4+ T cells in SLE patients exhibited mitochondrial dysfunction, as evidenced by increased levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and mitochondrial ROS and insufficient ATP production. Accordingly, in vitro MT-ND6 silencing induced abnormalities in the above mitochondrial indicators in CD4+ T cells, and promoted the development of both transcription and inflammatory factors in these cells. In contrast, treatment with targeted mitochondrial antioxidants largely counteracted the silencing effect of MT-MD6. Thus, reduced MT-ND6 in SLE patients may lead to mitochondrial dysfunction through ROS overproduction, thereby promoting inflammatory CD4+ T cells.

The inflammatory response runs through the whole pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) have exhibited a positive therapeutic effect on SLE. This study aimed to ascertain the pathogenic role of inflammasome activation in SLE and whether MSC alleviate SLE by suppressing it. The results showed that the nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome was activated in macrophages from MRL/lpr mice and patients with SLE, correlating with disease activity. After MSC transplantation, the disease severity in MRL/lpr mice was alleviated, and NLRP3 inflammasome activation was inhibited with decreased levels of NLRP3 and caspase-1 in macrophages. Furthermore, lower serum levels of interleukin (IL)-1ß and IL-18 were observed in patients with SLE who underwent MSC transplantation. In vitro and in vivo studies indicated that MSC suppressed NLRP3 inflammasome activation by inhibiting Pim-1 expression. The findings provide an updated view of inflammasome signaling in SLE. Additionally, MSC ameliorated SLE by inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation, implying a possible molecular mechanism for the clinical application of MSC and a potential therapeutic target in patients with SLE.

To explore the role of Notch1 pathway in the pathogenesis of podocyte injury, and to provide novel strategy for podocyte repair in lupus nephritis (LN). Bioinformatics analysis and immunofluorescence assay were applied to determine the expression and localization of Notch1 intracellular domain1 (NICD1) in kidneys of LN patients and MRL/lpr mice. The stable podocyte injury model in vitro was established by puromycin aminonucleoside (PAN) treatment. Expression of inflammasome activation related gene was detected by qPCR. The podocytes with PAN treatment were cultured with or without N-S-phenyl-glycine-t-butylester (DAPT), an inhibitor of Notch1 pathway. NICD1, Wilm'stumor1 (WT1), nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptors 3 (NLRP3), and absent in melanoma-like receptors 2 (AIM2) were detected by western blot. In vivo, MRL/lpr mice were administrated with DAPT or vehicle. The LN symptoms were assessed. The podocyte injury was evaluated, and the NLRP3 in podocytes of mice was detected. Notch1 pathway was overactivated in glomeruli of LN patients. NICD1 was colocalized with podocytes of LN patients and MRL/lpr mice. The inflammasome-related genes were significantly increased in podocytes with PAN treatment. NICD1 and NLRP3 were significantly decreased, while WT1 was significantly increased in injured podocytes treated with DAPT in vitro. In vivo, lupus-like symptoms were alleviated in DAPT treatment group. Notch1 pathway was inhibited in kidneys of mice treated with DAPT. The renal inflammation was reduced and the podocyte injury was mitigated in DAPT treatment group. The NLRP3 was decreased in podocytes of mice treated with DAPT. Notch1 pathway was overactivated in podocytes of LN patients and MRL/lpr mice. Blockade of Notch1 pathway reduced renal inflammation and alleviated podocyte injury via inhibition of NLRP3 inflammasome activation in LN.

This study examined the bacterial community dynamics and their relationship with volatile compounds in Xinjiang smoked horsemeat sausage during fermentation. We employed single-molecule real-time sequencing (SMRT) to identify the bacterial composition, while headspace solid-phase microextraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) was utilized to detect volatile compounds in the sausage. The findings indicated that Staphylococcus xylosus, Lactococcus garvieae, Latilactobacillus sakei, Lactococcus lactis, and Weissella hellenica were the predominant species during the fermentation. Moreover, we identified 56 volatile substances in the smoked horsemeat sausages, including alcohols, esters, ketones, acids, aldehydes, terpenes, and phenols. Notably, the correlation analysis demonstrated positive associations between the major bacteria and the primary volatile compounds, with notable connections observed for Staphylococcus xylosus, Lactococcus garvieae and Weissella hellenica. These research findings provide a foundation for future endeavors aimed at enhancing the flavor quality of smoked horsemeat sausage.

Abnormal infiltration and activation of neutrophils play a pathogenic role in the development of lupus nephritis (LN). Myeloid-related proteins (MRPs), MRP-8 and -14, also known as the damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs), are mainly secreted by activated neutrophils in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) regulate a variety of immune cells to treat LN, but it is not clear whether MSCs can regulate neutrophils and the expression of MRP-8/14 in LN. Here, we demonstrated that neutrophil infiltration and MRP-8/14 expression were increased in the kidney of MRL/lpr mice and both decreased after MSCs transplantation. Further, the results showed that tumor necrosis factor- (TNF) stimulated gene-6 (TSG-6) in MSCs is necessary for MSCs to inhibit MRP-8/14 expression in neutrophils and neutrophil migration. In addition, small-molecule immunosuppressant had no significant effect on the expression of MRP-8/14 in neutrophils. Therefore, our results suggest that MSCs inhibited MRP-8/14 expression and neutrophil migration by secreting TSG-6 in the treatment of LN.

INTRODUCTION: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) refers to abnormal glucose tolerance that occurs or is firstly diagnosed during pregnancy. GDM is related to various adverse pregnancy outcomes, but GDM pathogeny has not been fully elucidated. Nevertheless, previous studies have observed that many proteins in the placentas of patients with GDM are dysregulated. The present study aimed to establish a novel differentially expressed protein (DEP) landscape of GDM and normal maternal placentas and to explore the possible connection between DEPs and GDM pathogenesis. This study provides new insights into the mechanism of GDM and should make an important contribution to the development of biomarkers. METHODS: The morphological characteristics of the placenta were observed on 30 GDM and normal maternal placental tissues stained with haematoxylin and eosin. Isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation (iTRAQ) was used in the proteomics screening of the DEPs of the normal and GDM maternal placentas. Bioinformatics analysis was performed on the DEPs, and parallel reaction monitoring (PRM) was performed to verify the DEPs. Finally, the quantitative analysis of iTRAQ and PRM was verified by immunohistochemical assay. RESULTS: A total of 68 DEPs in the GDM placenta were identified with iTRAQ proteomics experiment, comprising 21 up-regulated and 47 down-regulated DEPs. Bioinformatics analysis showed that the regulation of transport, catabolic process of non-coding RNA, cytoskeleton and cell binding were the most abundant Gene Ontology terms, and RNA degradation was an important pathway for significant enrichment. Protein-protein interaction network analysis showed that heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins A2/B1 (HNRNPA2B1), heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A/B (HNRNPAB), heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein L (HNRNPL) and heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A3 (HNRNPA3) were the cores of the up-regulated proteins. Band 3 anion transport protein (SLC4A1), spectrin beta chain erythrocytic (SPTB), ankyrin-1 (ANK1), spectrin beta chain non-erythrocytic 2 (SPTBN2), D-3-phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase (PHGDH) and exosome complex component RRP42 (EXOSC7) were the cores of the down-regulated proteins. These proteins are involved in the binding, splicing, processing, transport and degradation of RNA and in the formation and maintenance of the cytoskeleton. PRM verification results showed that seven proteins, namely, epiplakin (EPPK1), cold-inducible RNA-binding protein (CIRBP), HNRNPA2B1, HNRNPAB, HNRNPL, Ras-related protein Rab-21 (RAB21) and Ras-related protein Rab-3B (RAB3B), were up-regulated, whereas SPTB and SLC4A1 were down-regulated. The results of immunohistochemical assay also showed that the expression of five proteins, namely EPPK1, HNRNPA2B1, HNRNPAB, CIRBP and RAB21, were significantly higher in GDM placental tissues (P < 0.01). The GDM placentas showed changes in the morphological evaluation, including poor villous maturation, obvious increase in the number of syncytiotrophoblast nodules, thickening of the wall of dry villous arterioles with lumen stenosis, increased fibrinous exudation and excessive filling of villous interstitial vessels. DISCUSSION: Differentially expressed proteins related to a variety of biological processes in the GDM placenta were found. Fourteen proteins, namely, HNRNPA2B1, HNRNPAB, HNRNPL, HNRNPA3, EPPK1, CIRBP, RAB21, RAB3B, SLC4A1, SPTB, ANK1, SPTBN2, PHGDH and EXOSC7, which were differentially expressed in the placenta, may play an important role in regulating the occurrence and development of gestational diabetes through multi-channel and multi-link regulation.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the perceptions of pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) and rehabilitation care amongst women after radical hysterectomy and to explore ways to improve quality of care. METHODS: Thirty-six women who underwent radical hysterectomy at a hospital in southeast China were enrolled via purposive sampling. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted. The texts were analysed via qualitative content analysis. RESULTS: Four themes were obtained: serious lack of knowledge, heavy psychological burden, different coping strategies and great eagerness to receive multiparty support on PFD rehabilitation care. CONCLUSION: The society and professional staff should strengthen health education on PFD. Professionals should offer education before and after surgery and actively provide rehabilitation consultation to promote the availability of rehabilitation to support women with PFD rehabilitation care. In addition, family-centred care is an important way to support women to return to normal life, and women's need for family support should be more actively expressed. Moreover, knowledge of medical insurance should be popularised, especially in rural areas in China.

Here, we explored the influences of thyme microcapsules on the growth, gene expression, and histamine accumulation by Proteus bacillus isolated from smoked horsemeat sausage. RT-qPCR was employed to evaluate the gene expression level of histidine decarboxylase (HDC) cascade-associated genes. We used HPLC to monitor histamine concentration both in pure culture as well as in the processing of smoked horsemeat sausage. Results showed that histamine accumulation was suppressed by thyme microcapsule inhibitory effect on the histamine-producing bacteria and the reduction in the transcription of hdcA and hdcP genes. Besides, compared with thyme essential oil (EO), thyme microcapsules exhibited higher antibacterial activity and had a higher score for overall acceptance. Therefore, the addition of thyme microcapsules in Xinjiang smoked horsemeat sausage inhibits histamine accumulation.

Excessive free fatty acid- (FFA-) induced endothelial lipotoxicity is involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is mechanistically related to endothelial lipotoxicity. Lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor-1 (LOX-1) is the major oxidatively modified low-density lipoprotein (OxLDL) receptor in endothelial cells and is highly abundant in atherosclerotic lesions. Curcumin reduces the LOX-1 expression; however, the mechanism underlying this effect remains unknown. In the current study, we explored whether curcumin ameliorates palmitic acid- (PA-) induced endothelial lipotoxicity and LOX-1 upregulation by reducing ER stress in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). We built endothelial lipotoxicity in vitro and found that LOX-1 was upregulated after PA stimulation, during which ER stress played an important role. Next, we observed that curcumin substantially alleviated PA-induced lipotoxicity by restoring cell viability, increasing angiogenesis, and decreasing lipid deposition. Furthermore, LOX-1 upregulation in HUVECs was blocked by curcumin, possibly via ER stress suppression. Overall, our findings demonstrated that curcumin alleviates endothelial lipotoxicity and LOX-1 upregulation, and ER stress inhibition may play a critical role in this effect.

Atorvastatin is a widely used lipid-lowering drug in the clinic. Research shows that taking long-term atorvastatin has the risk of drug-induced liver injury (DILI) in most patients. Hugan tablets, a commonly used drug for liver disease, can effectively lower transaminase and protect the liver. However, the underlying mechanism of Hugan tablets alleviating atorvastatin-induced DILI remains unclear. To address this problem, comprehensive chemical profiling and network pharmacology methods were used in the study. First, the strategy of "compound-single herb-TCM prescription" was applied to characterize the ingredients of Hugan tablets. Then, active ingredients and potential targets of Hugan tablets in DILI treatment were screened using network pharmacology, molecular docking, and literature research. In the end, the mechanism of Hugan tablets in treating atorvastatin-induced DILI was elucidated. The results showed that Hugan tablets can effectively alleviate DILI induced by atorvastatin in model rats, and 71 compounds were characterized from Hugan tablets. Based on these compounds, 271 potential targets for the treatment of DILI were predicted, and 10 key targets were chosen by characterizing protein-protein interactions. Then, 30 potential active ingredients were screened through the molecular docking with these 10 key targets, and their biological activity was explained based on literature research. Finally, the major 19 active ingredients of Hugan tablets were discovered. In addition, further enrichment analysis of 271 targets indicated that the PI3K-Akt, TNF, HIF-1, Rap1, and FoxO signaling pathways may be the primary pathways regulated by Hugan tablets in treating DILI. This study proved that Hugan tablets could alleviate atorvastatin-induced DILI through multiple components, targets, and pathways.

Objectives: Endothelial dysfunction is a precursor of cardiovascular disease, and protecting endothelial cells from damage is a treatment strategy for atherosclerosis (AS). Curcumin, a natural polyphenolic compound, has been shown to protect endothelial cells from dysfunction. In the present study, we investigated whether curcumin could ameliorate high oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL)-induced endothelial lipotoxicity by inducing autophagy in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). Materials and Methods: HUVECs were treated with 50 µM high ox-LDL alone or in combination with 5 µM curcumin for 24 hr. Cell viability and function were assessed by the cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay, tube formation assay and cell migration experiments. Oil red O staining was used to detect lipid droplet accumulation in HUVECs. The change in reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels in HUVECs was measured with the probe DCFH-DA. Quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) and Western blotting were used to evaluate the mRNA and protein levels of several inflammatory and autophagy-related factors. Results: Cell viability was restored, tube formation and migration ability were increased, and lipid accumulation, oxidative stress and inflammatory responses were decreased in the curcumin-treated group compared with the high ox-LDL group. Furthermore, high ox-LDL inhibited HUVEC autophagy, and this effect was reversed by curcumin. Moreover, curcumin regulated the expression of several key proteins involved in the AMPK/mTOR/p70S6K signaling pathway. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that curcumin is able to reduce endothelial lipotoxicity and modulate autophagy and that the AMPK/mTOR/p70S6K pathway might play a key role in these effects.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Qingkailing injection (QKLI) is prepared from eight traditional Chinese medicinal materials or their extracts, which is widely used in clinical practice to treat the upper respiratory inflammation, pneumonia, high fever and viral encephalitis, nonetheless, suffering from serious anaphylaxis. AIM OF STUDY: This study aims to develop an integrative metabolomics approach for deciphering the biochemical basis of QKLI induced anaphylaxis (QKLI-IA). MATERIALS AND METHODS: The accuracy of animal modeling, the coverage of detected metabolites and the timeliness of pathological reaction are three key factors for revealing the biochemical basis of disease with untargeted metabolomics. In this study, firstly, the allergic rats (responders) were first screened by passive cutaneous anaphylaxis experiment and then were utilized for modeling. To cover a wider range of metabolites, a large-scale untargeted metabolomics based on metabolites polarity-oriented analysis was performed using ultra performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Then, to evaluate the timeliness of QKLI-IA, a time-dependent metabolomic profiling including the early, mid and late anaphylaxis stages of QKLI-IA, was performed. RESULTS: Corresponding to early, mid and late anaphylaxis stages of QKLI-IA, 14, 9 and 4 potential biomarkers were identified, respectively. Metabolism pathway analysis revealed that QKLI-IA resulted in dynamic changes in serum amino acid, fatty acid, glycerolipid, and phospholipid metabolisms. Twenty-four metabolites were found with identical fluctuating trends across the three stages of QKLI-IA. The results indicate that the pathogenesis of QKLI-IA is closely related to arachidonic acid metabolism. CONCLUSION: This research provides a methodology reference for revealing the biochemical basis of disease using metabolomic profiling and offers a new insight to understand the pathogenesis of QKLI-IA.

Diagnostic ions filter method was used to rapidly detect and identify the phenolic compounds in Rheum palmatum based on ultra performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MSE). The representative authentic standards of phenolic compounds, including gallic acid, (+)-catechin, (-)-epicatechin, (-)-epicatechin-3-O-gallate and procyanidin B2, were subjected to analysis by UPLC-Q-TOF/MSE system with negative ion mode. Fragmentation patterns of each standard were summarized based on assigned fragment ions. The prominent product ions were selected as diagnostic ions. Subsequently, diagnostic ions filter was employed to rapidly recognize analogous skeletons. Combined with retention time, accurate mass, characteristic fragments and previous literature data, the structures of the filtered compounds were identified or tentatively characterized. A total 63 phenolic compounds (36 phenolic acid derivatives, 8 flavonoid derivatives and 19 tennis derivatives) in R. palmatum were identified, including 6 potential new compounds. The method of diagnostic ions filter could rapidly detect and identify phenolic compounds in R. palmatum This study provides a method for rapid detection of phenolic compounds in R. palmatum and is expected to complete the material basis of rhubarb.

The evaluation of individual variability in endogenous drugs' metabolism and disposition is a very challenging task. We developed and validated a metabotype to pharmacokinetics (PK) matching approach by taking cholic acid as an example to predict the individualized PK of endogenous drugs. The stable isotope-labeled cholic acid was selected as the substitute analyte of cholic acid to ensure the accurate measurement of blood concentration. First, large-scale metabolite profiling studies were performed on the predose urine samples of 28 rats. Then, to examine the individualized PK of deuterium 4-cholic acid (d4-cholic acid) in these rats, we determined its plasma concentrations and calculated the differential AUC values. Subsequently, we conducted a two-stage partial least-squares analysis in which 31 baseline metabolites were screened initially for predicting the individualized AUC values of d4-cholic acid using the data of predose urine metabolites. Finally, network biology analysis was applied to give the biological interpretation of the individual variances in cholic acid metabolism and disposition, and the result further narrowed the selection of baseline metabolites from 31 to 2 (sarcosine and S-adenosyl-l-homocysteine) for such prediction. Collectively, this pharmacometabolomics research provided a new strategy for predicting individualized PK of endogenous drugs.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment can be valuable therapeutic strategies. However, the active components and action mechanisms that account for its therapeutic effects remain elusive. Based on the hypothesis that the components of a formula which exert effect would be measurable in target tissue, a target tissue metabolomics-based strategy was proposed for screening of antipyretic components in Qingkaikling injection (QKLI). First, we detected the components of QKLI which could reach its target tissue (hypothalamus) by determining the hypothalamus microdialysate and discovered that only baicalin and geniposide could be detected. Then, by conducting hypothalamus metabolomics studies, 14 metabolites were screened as the potential biomarkers that related to the antipyretic mechanisms of QKLI and were used as its pharmacodynamic surrogate indices. Subsequently, the dynamic concentration of baicalin and geniposide in hypothalamus microdialysates and biomarkers in hypothalamus were measured and correlated with each other. The results indicated that only baicalin shown a good correlation with these biomarkers. Finally, a network pharmacology approach was established to validate the antipyretic activity of baicalin and the results elucidated its antipyretic mechanisms as well. The integrated strategy proposed here provided a powerful means for identifying active components and mechanisms contributing to pharmacological effects of TCM.

Chemical characteristic fragment filtering in MSn chromatograms was proposed to detect and identify the components in rhubarb rapidly using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with linear ion trap-Orbitrap mass spectrometry. Characteristic fragments consist of diagnostic ions and neutral loss fragments. Characteristic fragment filtering is a postacquisition data mining method for the targeted screening of groups with specific structures, including three steps: first, in order to comprehensively summarize characteristic fragments for global identification of the ingredients in rhubarb, representative authentic standards of dominant chemical categories contained in rhubarb were chosen, from which fragmentation rules and a characteristic fragments schedule were proposed; second, characteristic fragment filtering was used to rapidly recognize analogous skeletons; finally, combined with retention time, accurate mass, characteristic fragments, and previous literature, the structures of the filtered compounds were identified or tentatively characterized. As a result, a total of 271 compounds were detected and identified in rhubarb, including 34 anthraquinones, 83 anthrones, 46 tannins, 17 stilbenes, 24 phenylbutanones, 26 acylglucosides, 26 chromones, and 15 other compounds, 69 of which are potentially new compounds. The proposed characteristic fragment filtering strategy would be a reference for the large-scale detection and identification of the ingredients of herbal medicines.

The characterization of unknown compounds is still a great challenge currently. A strategy for deduction of potential new phthalides through the characterization of isomers based on ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time of flight tandem mass spectrometry was proposed here to characterize the unknown compounds of Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort. (Chuanxiong). This proposed strategy consisted of four steps: (1) the high resolution MS data was collected, and the peaks were screened preliminarily by UNIFITM platform based on the in-house database; (2) the fragmentation patterns and the characteristic fragments were summarized based on the representative standards; (3) the target compounds were identified based on the fragmentation rules, standards comparison and false positive exclusion; (4) the unknown components were structurally characterized according to the accurate mass and fragmentation patterns analysis. This strategy was successfully applied to the identification and deduction of phthalides in Chuanxiong. A total of 81 phthalides were detected. Fifty-five known phthalides were identified, and 26 potential new phthalides were characterized. This research enriched the material basis of Chuanxiong, and provided a liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry-oriented method for the discovery of the potential new compounds.

Modified nucleosides, metabolites of RNA, are potential biomarkers of cancer before the appearance of morphological abnormalities. It is of great significance to comprehensively detect and identify nucleosides in human urine for discovery of cancer biomarkers. However, the lower abundance, the greater polarity and the matrix effects make it difficult to detect urinary nucleosides. In this paper, an integrated method consisted of sample preparation followed by ultraperformance liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC Q-TOF/MS) detection and primary identification, then ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with hybrid triple quadrupole linear ion trap mass spectrometer (UHPLC Q-Trap/MS) further identification and validation were introduced. Firstly, to enrich the nucleosides and eliminate the urine matrix effects, different sorbent materials of solid phase extraction (SPE) and the elution conditions were screened. Secondly, UPLC Q-TOF/MS was used to acquire mass data in MSE mode. The structural formulas of nucleosides in urine sample were primarily identified according to retention time, accurate mass precursor ions and fragment ions from in-house database and online database. Thirdly, the preliminary identified nucleoside structures lacking of characteristic fragment ions were verified by UHPLC Q-Trap/MS in multiple reaction monitoring trigger enhanced product ion scan (MRM-EPI) and neutral loss scan (NL). At last, phenylboronic acid (PBA)-based SPE was utilized due to its higher MS signal and weaker matrix effects under optimized extraction conditions. Fifty-five nucleosides were primarily identified by UPLC Q-TOF/MS, among which 50 nucleosides were confirmed by UHPLC Q-Trap/MS. Five nucleosides, namely 4',5'-didehydro-5'-deoxyadenosine, 4',5'-didehydro-5'-deoxyinosine, isonicotinamide riboside, peroxywybutosine and hydroxywybutosine, were found from urine for the first time. The results will expand the Human Metabolome Database (HMDB).
